BP has hired a Valaris deepwater drillship for its four-well drilling operations in the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim cross-border development, offshore Mauritania and Senegal. The Valaris DS-12 drillship has been secured for an estimated 285 days, with the contract expected to commence in the first quarter of 2022.
The contract involves gas production from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and mid-water floating production, storage and offloading vessel, to be installed and commissioned by TechnipFMC FTI. The vessel is designed to process gas and remove heavier hydrocarbon components.
The gas will be transferred to the Gimi floating liquefied natural gas facility at a nearshore hub, located on the Mauritania-Senegal maritime border, which is expected to produce an average of 2.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year.
