Nigeria: NLNG’s $10bn Train 7 Project Set to Resume in May

The Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced a projected May 2021 resumption of construction of the $10 billion Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Train 7 project.

According to Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Simbi Wabote, the project comprises the midstream and upstream sectors, and was signed as part of the opportunities in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

“We were able to sign the contract for the Train 7, which is almost about $5 billion worth of opportunity that came into the country. So, when you look at it, in 2020, we signed that Train 7 contract. Hopefully, this May, I think activities will accelerate with regards to the Train 7 project that will come into effect. And once that opportunity comes, the upstream opportunities will kick in,” he said.

The project was stalled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
