Revego Secures Investment in Bokpoort CSP Project

In its first major acquisition, Revego Africa Energy Ltd. has announced its $14 million purchase of 12% of Metier’s stake in the 50 MW Bokpoort Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project.

Capable of significant onsite storage in the form of thermal salt storage, Bokpoort CSP is one of the first projects of its kind formulated under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) program project. The project is notable for being the first renewable energy facility on the continent to operate continuously for a full week, going on to run for 13 days in the second quarter of 2021, due to its onsite storage capabilities.

“The economics of the acquisition stack up well – Bokpoort CSP is backed by a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Eskom, supported by government guarantees, and with a power tariff indexed to the Consumer Price Index,” said Reyburn Hendricks, CEO of Revego, noting that the acquisition is an important step towards building the Revego portfolio.
