Mozambique: US concludes first part of training of Mozambican Marines

The United States of America yesterday announced the completion of the first part of the Mozambican Marines training programme, taught by US military personnel, in support of Mozambican forces fighting armed groups in Cabo Delgado.U.S. Ambassador Dennis W. Hearne and Mozambican Minister of Defense Jaime Neto commemorated in Maputo the conclusion of a Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) training exercise.“As I witnessed the impressive battlefield skills during a demonstration at the training facility, I was proud of the work our countrymen were able to accomplish together,” said Ambassador Hearne.Twenty years since the last JCET exercise in Mozambique, this training program represents the strengthening relationship between the United States of America and the Republic of Mozambique.The training program was administered by the US Special Operations Forces and lasted for two months, with one of the main objectives being the strengthening of the Mozambican forces in combating the insurgents who have been carrying out attacks in Cabo Delgado.
