Uganda to launch call for tenders

The state-owned Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAOU) has announced that the country will launch a call for tenders in December for its long-awaited oil resources development project in a bid to fast-track oil exploration and associated infrastructure developments. The oil resources development project will comprise the Tilenga and Kingfisher upstream oil projects – expected to deliver a combined total of 230,000 barrels of oil per day – and the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). Initial phases of the tendering work will include the construction of a refinery, the EACOP connecting Uganda to Tanzania, and the completion of an oil road network in the Albertine Graben where crude oil has been discovered.“The companies that win the key tenders will begin construction work on the Kingfisher and Tilenga wells, then other wells will also be developed during the second phase,” stated Peninah Aheebwa, Technical Support Services Director, PAOU.
