BP Starts Production from Raven Gas Field in Egypt

BP, along with Europe’s leading independent natural gas and oil company, Wintershall Dea, have announced first gas production from the offshore Raven field in Egypt. This is the third phase of the West Nile Delta (WND) development project on the north African country’s Mediterranean coast.

The $9 billion project includes five gas fields across northern Alexandria and the western Mediterranean deepwater offshore concession blocks in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Raven field project involves 25 wells and three deepwater subsea tiebacks that will take produced gas to onshore facilities. The development has a processing capacity of around 1.4 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (Bcf/d), with all gas produced being fed into Egypt’s national grid.

Raven currently produces approximately 600 Mcf/d, with BP highlighting that production has the potential to increase up to 900 Mcf/d of gas and 30,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) of consolidate at peak.
