Nigeria Federal Government Invests N140bn in Off-Grid Solar Project

Nigeria’s Federal Government has rolled out over N140 billion for the the Asolar Naija solar connection scheme in a bid to address unreliable electricity generation and supply in the country.  

The project is set to generate solar-powered electricity in five million homes in off-grid communities. 

Powered by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the project, which saw to the release of 100,000 domestic solar systems at Jengefe community in Jigawa state, will address the unstable power supply in the country. 

Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo who unveiled the power said that it is anchored towards not only power generation but job creation and the improvement of the standard of living of Nigerians, noting the project’s function to help the country out if its poor electricity supply.
