Mozambique: Five companies pre-selected to build solar plant

Five companies were shortlisted for the construction of a pilot project for a solar power plant in Dondo, central Mozambique, the country’s Energy Regulatory Authority announced.
The five competitors are the Italian Enel Green Power SPA, the South African Globeleq Africa, the Mozambican Scatec Solar ASA and the French EDF Renewables and Total Eren S.A.
The plant will have a capacity of 30 megawatts (MW) and will be installed in the Dondo district, Sofala province, next to the city of Beira.

The five companies were chosen from a total of 12 and are expected to submit technical and financial proposals in the next phase.
In addition to the Dondo solar power station, Mozambican authorities plan to launch a tender this year for two others, in Lichinga, the capital of Niassa province, in the north of the country, and another in the village of Manje, central Tete province.
