Capacity Development Workshop to empower South African SMMEs

Capacity Development Workshop to empower South African SMMEs

The South African Renewable Energy Business Incubator (Sarebi), focused on businesses in the renewable energy sector has launched the Capacity Development Workshop to support green SMMEs.

The business incubator explained that the recent developments around the COVID-19 pandemic have necessitated a shift to online services, as such the organisation is now offering the full Capacity Development Workshop Series via a Google Classroom platform.

Sarebi will be partnering with Enlit Africa, formally known as African Utility Week and POWERGEN Africa, through its Initiate movement to empower the next generation of energy entrepreneurs.

Initiate Launched as part of Clarion Energy’s European Utility Week, the Initiate! platform has been bringing together start-ups, students, corporate executives, public sector innovators and investors from around the world since 2014. The concept is now global as part of the Enlit event series in Asia, the US, Australia, Africa and potentially India.

Entrepreneurial ecosystem

Graduates from the Sarebi Capacity Development Workshop series will be given the opportunity to highlight and present their business offerings to a network of existing, mature enterprisers and potential investors. This is in support of the all-important entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Capacity Development Workshop Series is focused on pre-revenue or aspirant entrepreneurs and consists of three modules presented online in a small group, peer-learning workshop format. The programme has been designed to allow participants to develop their business model with a specific focus on the value proposition, business case and business model.
