Barkindo urges ‘cautious optimism’ by OPEC members, allies

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Dr. Mohammed Barkindo, has called for cautious optimism by OPEC members and allies for total recovery of the oil market.

Barkindo spoke at the meeting of the OPEC+ technical committee on Tuesday.

“We must emphasise in strong terms, cautious optimism, cautious optimism, cautious optimism,” he stated.

Barkindo projected, citing OPEC analysts, that the world’s oil demand would reach 96 million barrels per day, b/d, this year, up 5.8 million barrels per day this year.
