Mozambique: India pledges 100,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to country

India’s new high commissioner to Mozambique on Wednesday pledged to provide the country with 100,000 doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, on the sidelines of the ceremony to hand over credentials to the Mozambican president.

The diplomat, Shri Ankan Banerjee, “reiterated his country’s provision of 100,000 vaccines for Mozambique,” to “tackle the pandemic,” the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Verónica Macamo told reporters at the end of the ceremony at the Presidency Palace in Maputo.

As well as the 200,000 vaccines delivered on Wednesday by China, Mozambique believes that “the doses for immunisation promised by India will also arrive soon,” she said, without naming dates.
