DPR Advises Petrol Stations To Obey Environmental Safety Protocols

Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has harped on the need for petrol station owners nationwide and their workers to observe environmental safety rules in their locations.
The DPR zonal controller, Imo state, Mrs Roseline Wilkie, gave the advice in Owerri last weekend when she visited some petrol stations to create awareness and monitor compliance to DPR rules and regulations on sale and distribution of petroleum products and safety.
Wilkie said there was the need for station managers to insist that people buying fuels puts off their cell phones, as well as vehicle engines while buying petrol, observe other safety precautions.
She also urged petrol station managers, as well as members of the public to observe safety rules while handling petroleum products. She listed the rules to include non-usage of hand sets at filling stations, non-keeping of petrol in jerrycans inside house and no smoking of cigarettes as well non-usage of candles near petrol.
