About this Event
Topic 1: Well abandonment – don’t leave with a bad goodbye
The US Abandonment Retirement Obligation (decommissioning liability) of oil and gas assets is in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Texas onshore alone has approximately 100,000 inactive wells with an abandonment liability of ~$6bln and another 400,000 active wells with a current abandonment liability of ~$25bln. We’ll discuss the process oil companies use to determine their Abandonment Retirement Obligation (ARO) liability, how that impacts their asset value capital and how all these wells are going to be Plugged and abandoned and “leave without a bad goodbye!”
Topic 2: Integrated Reservoir Modeling
This presentation is a good overview of the integrated reservoir modeling studies that encompasses multidisciplinary approach for the development of an oil and gas reservoir. It starts from the basic approach and takes the participants down to the advances. The topic will introduce to the attendees the steps and the workflow for building a 3D reservoir model, regardless of the software available to the modeling team. In the presentation Dr. Hannan emphasizes integration of static and dynamic reservoir properties with the geological facies model.
